Saturday morning soccer

We have entered a new phase of life starting this fall-- Saturday morning soccer games.  When I was younger, I watched my mom as a "soccer mom" going to all of my brother, Kevin's games.  There's kinda a stigma that goes along with being a soccer mom-- sitting in your camp chair clustered with the other moms yelling out to your kid to do this or that (also the same time the coach is giving out advice), everyone cheering together, getting that sun tan (or burn), and then washing the soccer socks (stinky!) week after week.  It's been fun so far and so far I have lived up to every expectation of a soccer mom to a 6 year old.  Tommy is doing well and is getting better little by little.  Most anyone would understand the frustration of watching kids that young play this game of teamwork.  They ran around in clusters sometimes just starting at the ball expecting it to roll up to their foot so they can kick it..  No one is that aggressive or interested in stealing the ball.  They are content to run along side the other team as they kick the ball up field.  Yeah, frustrating, but I'm trying to adjust my expectations.  We saw the 10 yr old game before ours and they weren't much different :)  We are trying to help Tommy with techniques and obey the coach, but also encouraging him to keep having fun!  Sometimes we think he's more interested in socializing than playing!  I think I know where he gets that from!

His team is the red players in case it's hard to tell.  He's the only blonde one in red.
