A slight delay...

Yesterday we received some bad news concerning Tommy's school start date.  Before I say more, I'll give a little background.  The Christian school he attended last year and will this year had been meeting in our church building for many years.  The middle and high schools had been meeting in a separate stand-alone building on the other side of town.  This past year, the school was financially able to purchase a modular building to be placed on the property of the secondary school.  They were very excited to be on one campus at last and be free of sharing the building with the church.  The new building had to assembled, worked on, and pass inspections before students could be there for school.  Apparently, they had many roadblocks along the way, but God was allowing things to move forward.  In mid-August, they had to delay the start of school by a week because the new building was not ready to be occupied.   They were supposed to begin school today, but due to more unfortunate circumstances (permits, electrical issues, etc), school is delayed another week and a half.  Tommy is certainly unhappy about this as he was really looking forward to starting first grade.  I have to admit I'm slightly disappointed too.  I was looking forward to spending more time with the 3 little guys.  But, such is life and the plan of God, so now we wait and hope that Sept. 17th is indeed going to be his first day of school.  Tommy decided he wanted to "do" school even at home, so he'll be reading books and doing math problems to keep his mind alert.  I love that he enjoys it!

Today was also my every other year renewal of ACLS for my job (Advanced Cardiac Life Support).  American Heart Association changed things up and put most of the class on-line.  Instead of sitting through an 8 hr class, taking a test, and doing a "mock code", I did the classroom section on-line after my shift several nights.  Then, I went in this morning to do the mock code in front of an instructor.  Josh stayed home for the hour I was gone and looking back I wish I could have scheduled this before one of my upcoming shifts.  It was incredibly easy and almost a joke.  But, I am glad it's over.  It's the 6th time I have taken this class (since I've been a nurse 12 yrs) and I'm always relieved to be done with it for 2 more years.  Next summer, I will do the Pediatric version.
