First day of school- finally!

The long awaited day finally came for Tommy!  He started first grade at Summit Christian Academy after their occupancy permit was approved on the new building last week.  Josh and I were both really excited for him because we know he loves school and learning new things.  I wasn't teary or sad when he left, but just had a sense that life is never going to be the same.  He will never be at home full-time again.  I have accepted that this is life and I'm very excited for him-- and all my boys, really, to be moving into the next phases of their lives.  We are so pleased that God has provided for us so we can send him to a Christian school for his first couple years so far.  SCA is a wonderful school with wonderfully committed Christian teachers dedicated to educational excellence and teaching from the Word.  We don't have to worry stuff he is being taught.  I was a product of public school from 5-12th grade.  I was glad for a few years of Christian school and I'm glad we can provide that for our son.

Here he is waiting for the bus
I missed him getting on the bus because he literally ran on.  Josh is talking to the bus driver making sure of the pick up times.

So began the first day with me and my three little guys.  I had a lot of clean up to do from the work weekend.  Josh and I got SOOO much done on the house.  The kids had a great time with their grandparents in MD and were not underfoot while we sanded, spackled, painted, installed doors, painted doors, laid flooring, etc.  Tommy is going to be moving into the "new" room and is quite excited.  I tried a different paint scheme than I usually do and it turned out pretty well.  Not perfect, but pretty well.  :-)  My perfectionistic side has to be content with "ok" work!  We did our best, but we aren't professionals, but we didn't pay a professional either, so it all evens out.

This is the finished paint job.  I love the look, but the lines are not as crisp looking up close.  Tommy is thrilled!  The colors match his quilt that I made him, so it will be a very cute room.  This is the first room I have actually "done" for any of my kids.  I never bothered to really decorate before!
The meal is one Josh and I had (yes, we did order the same thing) at a place close to us in the middle of nowhere!  We were impressed that a diner type place had such a sophisticated looking meal!  Those are white, pink, and purple potatoes and sweet potatoes-- made for a very colorful dish!  We were super hungry after working for 12 hrs straight on Saturday.
This week hasn't slowed down either, but at least we can recover from all the manual labor!
