Pulling out and packing up

By the title, it sounds like we are moving!  Well, not the case :)  Instead I spent awhile this morning pulling out Tommy's next size clothing and putting away ones that do not fit him anymore.  I think any mom of young children can relate to the chore that this can be!  Over the summer, I find clothes at garage sales, Salvation Army, and consignment stores for the kids- mostly Tommy- and keep them in the attic.  With school starting soon, I wanted to get this done and have clothes in the closet that actually fit Tommy.   I had a whole Rubbermaid bin filled with size 6.  So for a couple hours, I pulled clothes out, shuffled things around in his drawers/closet, and put the small clothes away.  The twins are only a year younger, but they are more like 2-3 sizes smaller because of their small stature.  So, I can't put most things into their closet.  They'll sit in the attic for a year or more before the twins fit.  The twins and Ethan are basically wearing the same size (in pants) and Ethan is a size smaller in shirts.  So, all the clothes they outgrow goes to Ethan.  I feel like I do this almost on a monthly basis and I've been doing this for 6 yrs as everyone grows!

One very positive thing about digging around in the attic is that I found a set of books that I've been searching for for a couple years!  I had bought a huge lot of Berenstain bears books on eBay when Tommy was a baby.  I've been dying to get them out since Tommy can read them now.  It was so frustrating not to know in which box they were hidden.  Last week, I found 19 books at Salvation Army (yay!) but still thinking there must be some box I hadn't looked in where the others were.  So, I was SOOO excited to find them today!  After weeding out the duplicates and there weren't too many, I can now say the kids own 47 Berenstain Bears books and there are still ones we don't own!  Tommy is thrilled.  Last week, he spent a couple afternoons just reading the books.  I guess it's the little things that make both moms and little boys happy :)

  1. I feel your pain on clothes swapping! I used to love it, back when I had only Natalie and the excitement of new outfits was still real. Lol, now I hate it. :) But, I suppose I ought to be thankful for the clothes that God provides each time I pull out a new tub! Natalie also loves Berenstain Bears - she begs me to read them daily. Glad you've found so many!
