This was a much anticipated day for Sam and Nate! Ever since attending the preschool orientation last week, they pretty much had the days counted down until the first actual day! They are attending afternoon, two days a week for the school year. We decided to go with afternoons as opposed to mornings (as we did with Tommy) because I was chronically late picking Tommy up due to errands, Bible study and other activities I had going. This will be easier as I'm always home in the afternoons. Ethan still takes a nap, so I will be staying home with him then.
The preschool is a fun environment. We were impressed with it two years ago when we sent Tommy. It's run by the college (Keystone) across the highway from us with certified teachers, but education majors step in to help and earn college credit. There's a lot of creative free play, but structured learning time as well. Both of the twins can write their first names and know all letters by sight and sound. Sam is even reading short words. There may not be much they will learn academically. However, we felt it was important for their social and mental well-being that they get used to the structure of school.
They really are happy to go! Sam is in the really weird phase of forced smiles- to the point where he looks sad or mad. I can't figure out how to get him to look more natural!

So happy that your boys get to go to preschool this year - wow, it still doesn't seem all that long ago that all of us women were pregnant together!
