Oh Happy Day!
There are few days that I remember as being as happy as yesterday! My wedding day, the birthdays of my children, and my own conversion. Yesterday, God welcomed another one into the kingdom-- our son Tommy!! He has known a long time all the theology, but the head knowledge and heart conviction wasn't connecting. Josh and I were praying for all the kids, but him especially a lot lately. I didn't want to force this. It had to be his decision and desire to accept Jesus. Last night, I was talking to him before bed and he was telling me about chapel at school. The speaker was a missionary. Tommy seemed sad that there are people in the world who don't know about God. So, I talked to him about the importance of knowing God. Then, I asked him if he was ready to accept Jesus as Savior. He said he didn't know how to do it. So, I ran and got Josh. I wasn't chicken, but I doubted myself right then-- even though I had several years of child evangelism in high school! I've led dozens of kids to the Lord, but I didn't want to mess it up with my son. Josh has a great way with words and knows the correct theologies. He made sure Tommy knew what he wanted to do and asked him if he wanted to pray along with Josh. Tommy chose to pray by himself. Then Josh talked to Tommy about the importance of what he had done. Tommy knew. He came running downstairs to tell me and I had tears in my eyes. He had no idea how I've waited 6 years to hear him tell me that. I praise God that He chose to call my oldest son to Himself and now we will never, ever be separated. Now, we keep praying for our other three!!
