The Hunt for the perfect Christmas tree

For the past several years, we have gotten our Christmas tree over the Thanksgiving weekend.  When the kids were littler, we didn't want to do the "chop your own" method for logistics.  They wouldn't have appreciated it.  This year our favorite place was out of business, so we opted to chop down a tree.  At 6,5, and 3, the kids were a lot more agreeable to the process.  We found a farm just a couple miles down the road from us.  The prices were reasonable and he gave a price cut if the tree wasn't quite perfect.  We went with a Frasier fir to change it up a bit having gone with a  Douglas fir the past 3 years.  Neither tree is prickly and holds ornaments well.  We also got the "less than perfect" tree for a little discount!

We appreciated how family friendly the farmers were.  He offered to do any and all photos we wanted :)

The boys wanted to saw the tree themselves, but let Daddy do it when they saw how complicated was the process!

It even took Daddy a little while, but he finally got it.
Then the boys played race back to the barn.
The inside of the barn was decorated very cute complete with an electric train set and homemade chocolate chip cookies/hot chocolate.
The boys enjoyed watching the tree baler.  Me being the frugal one that I am carefully took the twine off at home and saved it for use in my garden next summer!

The tree with the lights and garland, but not with ornaments.  The boys helped me with the ornaments and I helped them balance them around the tree.

Already reading Christmas books.  They love the recordable Hallmark ones that my parents recorded for them last year.  It's fun to have Nana and Papa's voices in our house!
Christmas time has already started out very fun because the kids are finally old enough to appreciate everything and be really excited about everything!
