Quilts

Most people know I enjoy quilting a great deal.  It has become my creative outlet ever since my mom got me into it almost 4 years ago.  This same mom also told me that a mom with young kids doesn't have time for quilting!!  I'm glad she changed her mind and has encouraged this hobby that we both share an interest.  I can easily get wrapped up in quilting and forget I do have another life! :)  So, I've made it my reward, so to speak, to do when all other important and necessary tasks are done.  I took an online course through mid-October and did not sew at all.  Since then, I have completed 3 projects and enjoyed getting back behind my sewing machine again!

The first is a fall tablerunner made with scraps of autumn colors.  It sits on our kitchen table.

This next one is called Scrappy Stars and uses large pieces of fabric to make 4 very large stars.  Though it doesn't appear to be that large, it is actually over 80" squared.  I'm not sure where I will display this one.

The last project is not actually a quilt, but a wall hanging for Tommy's room.  The map panel is a solid piece of fabric that I put batting and a back on.  It's kinda like a quilt that isn't quilted, but sewn around the edges.  I hand sewed a sleeve on the back for a dowel rod and hung it that way.  Tommy loves maps and is thrilled with this map that is over 42" wide.
